multiplying 2y to equation 1

16x-6y=24_____4

subtracting equation 3 from 4

15x-6y=21

- 16x-6y=24

_(-)__(+)__(-)__

- x = 3

:. x= -3

substituting x= -3 in equation 3

15x-6y=21

15(-3)-6y=21

-6y=21+45

-6y= 66

y= 66/-6

y =- 11
