question:

15x - 14y = 117.........(1)

14x - 15y = 115........(2)

solving:

multiplying equation (1) by 14,

•15(14)x - 14(14)y = 117(14)

•210x - 196y = 1638

multiplying equation (2) by 15,

•14(15)x - 15(15)y = 115(15)

•210x - 225y = 1725

subtracting equation (1) from (2),

210x-225y=1725

-210x-196y=1638

--------------------------

0 (-225 + 196)y = 87

--------------------------

==> -29y = 87

\boxed{\blue{\tt ==> y = -3}}

placing value of y in equation (1)

15x + 42 = 117

15x = 75

\boxed{\red{\tt x = 5}}

verification :

place value of x and y in both equations,

15(5)-14(-3)=117

75 + 42 = 117

117 = 117

14(5)-15(-3) = 115

70 + 45 = 115

hence proved..
