Step-by-step explanation:

Given -

  • 8/x - 9/y = 1
  • 10/x + 6/y = 7

To Find -

  • Value of x and y

Now,

→ 8/x - 9/y = 1

→ 8y - 9x/xy = 1

→ 8y - 9x = xy ..... (i)

And

→ 10/x + 6/y = 7

→ 10y + 6x/xy = 7

→ 10y + 6x = 7xy .... (ii)

Now,

Solving (i) and (ii) by elimination method :-

→ [ 8y - 9x = xy ] × 2

[ 10y + 6x = 7xy ] × 3

→ 16y - 18x = 2xy

30y + 18x = 21xy

______________

→ 46y = 23xy

→ x = 2

Now,

Substituting the value of x on 10y + 6x = 7xy, we get :-

→ 10y + 6(2) = 7×2×y

→ 10y + 12 = 14y

→ 14y - 10y = 12

→ 4y = 12

→ y = 3

Hence,

The value of x is 2 and y is 3

Verification :-

8y - 9x = xy

→ 8(3) - 9(2) = 2 × 3

→ 24 - 18 = 6

→ 6 = 6

LHS = RHS

And

10y + 6x = 7xy

→ 10(3) + 6(2) = 7×2×3

→ 30 + 12 = 42

→ 42 = 42

LHS = RHS

Hence,

Verified...

It shows that our answer is absolutely correct.
