Solve by elimination method:
x-2y-1=0
3x-y-17=0​
Please give a clear answer, I don't get it.​

Answer:

(i) x-2y-1=0

=x-2y=1 .. x 3

= 3x -6y =3.. (i)

(ii) 3x -y-17=0

3x-y =17 .. (ii)

adding equation (i) and (ii)

3x -6y =3

3x- y = 17

=

-5y =20.

y =-4

3x -6y =3

3x -6 x -4 = 3

3x +24 =3

3x = -21

x = -7
