x-4y=13                                                            (i)

3x+2y=-3⇒2(3x+2y)=2×(-3)⇒6x+4y=-6         (ii)

Adding (i) and (ii),

x-4y+6x+4y=13+(-6)

⇒7x=7

⇒x=1

Now, putting the value of x in (i),

1-4y=13

⇒4y=-12

⇒y=-3
