Answer:

2x - y = 6

x + y = 9

2x - y + x + y = 6 + 9

3x = 15

x = 5

5 + y = 9

y = 4

GIVEN EQUATIONS :

  • 2x - y = 6
  • x + y = 9

By elimination method

\sf\implies{2x  -  y + (x + y) = 6 + 9}  \\  \\ \sf\implies{2x + x + y - y = 15}  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   \\  \\ \sf\implies{3x = 15}  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \\  \\ \sf\implies{x =  \frac{15}{3} }  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \\  \\ \sf\implies{ \pink{x = 5}}  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:

Put x = 5 in equation 1

\sf\implies{2(5) - y = 6}  \\  \\ \sf\implies{10 - y = 6}  \:  \:  \:  \\  \\ \sf\implies{y = 10 - 6}  \:  \:  \\  \\ \sf\implies{ \pink{y = 4}}  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   \:

Verification

\sf\implies{2(5) - 4 = 6}  \\  \\ \sf\implies{10 - 4 = 6}  \:  \:  \:  \:  \\  \\ \sf\implies{ \pink{6 = 6} } \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:

Hence Verified
