 {x}^{2}   - 7ix  - 12   = 0

using formula

i^2 = - 1,

then ,

12 i^2 = -12

after solving we get two values

3i and 4i

SOLUTION

 {x}^{2}  - 7ix - 12 = 0 \:  \:  \:  \:  \: </u><u>[</u><u> - 12 = 12 {i}^{2} </u><u>]</u><u> \ \\  \\   =  &gt;  {x}^{2}  - 7ix + 12 {i}^{2}  = 0 \\  \\  =  &gt;  {x}^{2}  - 4ix - 3ix + 12 {i}^{2}  = 0 \\  \\  =  &gt; x(x - 4i) - 3i(x - 4i) = 0 \\  \\  =  &gt; ( x - 4i)(x - 3i) = 0 \\  \\  =  &gt; x - 4i = 0 \:  \:  \: or \:  \:  \:  \: x  - 3i = 0 \\  \\  =  &gt; x = 4i \:  \:  \:and \:  \: x = 3i
