compare 4x² - 4ax + a² - b² = 0 with
ax²+bx +c =0
a = 4 , b = 4a , c = a² - b²
find discriminant ( D ) = b² - 4ac
D = ( 4a )² - 4 × 4 × ( a² - b² )
= 16a² - 16a² + 16b²
= 16b² ---( 1 )
we know the formula ,
x = ( -b ± √D ) / 2a
x = [ - ( -4a ) ± √( 16 b² ) ] / ( 2 × 4 )
= [ 4a ± 4b ] / 8
= 4 ( a ± b ) / 8
= ( a ± b ) 2
x = ( a + b ) / 2 , or x = ( a - b ) / 2
