3x - y = 5    x(3)  

then,

2x + 3y = 7 -------(1)

9x - 3y =  15 -------(3)    [in equation (1) +3y and equation (2) -3y get cancelled]

11x = 22

x = 22/11

x = 2.

taking x = 2, in equation (2)

3x - y = 5

3(2) - y = 5

6 - y = 5

y = 1

conclusion,

       By elimination method ,  x = 2, y = 1.
