Given :

  • Equation 1 : 2x - 3y = 17
  • Equation 2 : 4x + y = 13

To Find :

We have to find the value of x and y by using substitution method.

Solution :

⟹ 2x - 3y = 17 .......(1)

⟹ 4x + y = 13 .......(2)

From equation (2).

→ 4x + y = 13

→ y = 13 - 4x

Put value of y in equation (1).

→ 2x - 3(13 - 4x) = 17

→ 2x - 39 - 4x = 17

→ -2x = 17 - 39

→ -2x = -22

→ x = 22/2

→ x = 11

\rule{150}{2}

Put value of x in equation (2).

→ 4(11) + y = 13

→ 44 + y = 13

→ y = 13 - 44

→ y = -31
