4x+y=13....(1)

x-3y=13....(2)

From eq.(1)

y=13-4x...goes to eq.(2)

x-3(13-4x)=13

x-39+12x=13

13x=52

x=4

4-3y=13

-3y=13-4

-3y=9

y=(-3)

Therefore,x=4 & y=(-3)
