x + y = 7 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: (1)

x - y = 2 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: (2)

from \: eqn \: 2

x = 2 + y \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: (3)

putting \: value \: of \: x \: in \: eqn1

2 + y + y = 7

2y  = 5 \\ y =  \frac{5}{2}  \\ y = 2.5

putting \: this \:value \: in \: eqn \: 3

x = 2 + 2.5 \\ x = 4.5

y=7-x

put in equation 2

x-{7-x}=2

x+x-7=2

2x=9

x=9/2

9/2-y=2

-y=2-9/2

-y= -5/4

y=5/4
