x=5, y = 3

2x - 3y = 1. ...............2

Substituting 1 in eqn 2

2(8-y) - 3y =1

16-2y - 3y =1

-5y= - 15

Y=3. ..... 3

Putting value of y in eqn 1

x= 8 - 3

x= 5
