I don't know any particular formula to solve such equation. But, I tried solving by transposing the numbers to obtain the value of variable.

Q. Solve the equation :-  2x + 6x = 3

Ans -

  • Firstly, adding the like terms we would get -

2x+6x=3\\8x=3

  • transposing 6 to RHS for variable's value -

8x=3\\x=\frac{3}{8}

∴ In equation 2x+6x=8,  x=\frac{3}{8}
