3q²-2q = 8

or, 3q²-2q-8 =0......(i)

camparing eqn i to ax²+bx+c.

a = 3 , b = -2 and c = -8

W.K.T.

taking positive sign,

x = 2+√4+4×3×8/2×3

or, x = 2+√4+96/6

or,x = 2 +10/6

or, x = 12/6

x = 2.

and, taking negative sing

x = 2-10/6

or,x = 8/6

or,x = 4/3

x = 4/3.

hence, x = 2 , 4/3 respectively.
