SUBSTITUTION METHOD:- It is the method in which any one variable is substituted by expressing it in terms of the other variable

Given pair of linear equations in two variables:-

2x+3y=7 (eq.1)

4x+3y=11 (eq.2)

Let, us consider (eq.1)

2x+3y = 7

=>2x=7-3y

=>x=(7-3y)/2 (eq.3)

Now substitute the value of x in (eq.2)

4x+3y=11

=>4×(7-3y)/2+3y=11

=>2(7-3y)+3y=11

=>14-6y+3y=11

=>14-3y=11

=> -3y=11-14

=> -3y= -3

=> y= -3/-3

=> y=1

On substituting the value of y in (eq.3) we get,

x=(7-3×1)/2

x=(7-3)/2

x=4/2

x=2

Therefore,the value of x and y are 2 and 1 respectively.

x = 2 and y = 1

2x + 3y =7 ......i)

4x + 3y =11 .......ii)

subtracting ii) into i)

2x + 3y = 7

-

4x + 3y = 11

-2x = -4

2x = 4

x = 4/2

x =2

X = 2

SUBSTITUTING x = 2 in equation 1)

2x + 3y = 7

2×2 +3y= 7

4 + 3y =7

3y = 7-4

3y = 3

y = 3/3

y =1

Y = 1
