Solution:

$=> 5(x - 1) + 7(2 + 5x) = 53 .... (1)$

$=> 5(x - 1) + 7(2 + 5x) = 53$

$=> 5x - 5 + 14 + 35x = 53$

$=> 5x + 35x - 5 + 14 = 53$

$=> 40x + 9 = 53$

$=> 40x = 53 - 9$

$=> 40x = 44$

$=> x = 44/40$

$=> x = 11/10$

Verification:

Put x = 11/10 in equation (1)

$=> 5(11/10 - 1) + 7{2 + 5(11/10)} = 53$

$=> 5(11/10 - 1) + 7{2 + 5(11/10)} = 53$

$=> 5{(11-10)/10} + 7{2 + 11/2} = 53$

$=> 5{(11-10)/10} + 7{(4+11)/2} = 53$

$=> 5{1/10} + 7{15/2} = 53$

$=> 1/2 + 105/2 = 53$

$=> (1+105)/2 = 53$

$=> 106/2 = 53$

$=> 53 = 53$
