Question:

solve each of the given equation.

- x^2 + x - 2 = 0

To find :

The values for the unknown variable " x ".

Solution:

- x^2 + x - 2 = 0

Now , The first x^2 term cant be negative, so let me multiply the whole equation by - 1

= x^2 - x + 2 = 0

The discriminant formula :-

x = - b ± √ b^2 - 4 ac

_____________

2 a

P (x) = a x^2 + b x + c = 0

Here a =1 , b = -1 , c= 2

Let's substitute in the discriminant formula ;

= 1 ± √ 1 - 8

_______

2

x = 1 ± √ -7

_____

2
