Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

The pair of linear equations are Y-X+2=0

and X-2Y-4 = 0

To find:-

Solve the given equations by Elimination method

Solution:-

Given pair of linear equations are

Y-X+2=0

=>Y-X = -2

=> -X +Y = -2 -----(1)

X-2Y-4 = 0

=>X-2Y = 4---------(2)

On adding (1)&(2) for eliminating the value of X to

get the value of Y

-X +Y = -2

X-2Y = 4

(+)

__________

0-Y = 2

__________

=>-Y = 2

Y = -2

On Substituting the value of Y in (1) then

=>-X+(-2)=-2

=>- X -2 = -2

=>-X = -2+2

=>-X = 0

X= 0

Therefore X = 0 and Y = -2

Answer:-

Solution for the given pair of linear equations is

(0,-2)

Check:-

If X = 0 and Y = -2 then

LHS of (1) => -0+(-2)=-2

LHS = RHS

LHS of (2)=>0-2(-2)=0+4=4

LHS = RHS

Verified the given relations.

Used Method:-

  • Elimination method
