Answer:

The given equation are

0.4x+0.3=1.7 ……(1)

0.7x-0.2y=0.8 ..….(2)

multiply (1) by 2 and (2) by 3 and adding we get

0.8x+0.6y=3.4

2.1x-0.6y=2.4

2.9x=5.8

x=5.8/2.9

x=2

putting x=2 in (1) we get

0.4(2)+0.3y=1.7

0.8+0.3y=1.7

0.3y=1.7-0.8

0.3y=0.9

y=0.9/0.3

y=3

hence x=2 and y=3
