Step-by-step explanation:

let 1/x+y=a , 1/x-y=b

10a+2b= 4 - equation 1,

15a-9b= -2 - equation 2

eq1 ×9 = 90a+18b = 36

eq2×2 = 30a-18b = -4

______________

120a = 32

a= 32/120

a=4/15

substitute a=4/15 in eq2

15(4/15)-9b= -2

4-9b =-2

9b=4+2

9b=6

b=2/3

a=4/15 , b=2/3

x+y=4/15 - eq3

x-y=2/3 - eq4

____________

2x= 14/15

x= 7/15

substitute x= 7/15 in eq1

7/15+y = 4/15

y=4/15-7/15

y= -3/15

y= -5

hence x=7/15 , y= -5
