Answer :-

 \longmapsto\sf4x + 7 = 47

Transposing 7 from LHS to RHS, changing it's sign,

 \longmapsto\sf4x = 47 - 7

Subtracting 7 from 47,

 \longmapsto\sf4x = 40

Transposing 40 from LHS to RHS, changing it's sign,

 \longmapsto\sf x =  \dfrac{40}{4}

Dividing 40 by 4,

 \longmapsto\sf x = 10

  • To check our answer, let's put 10 in the place of x and see whether LHS = RHS.

LHS

 \Rightarrow\rm 4x + 7

Substituting the value of x,

 \Rightarrow\rm 4 \times 10 + 7

Applying the BODMAS rule and multiplying 4 with 10 first,

 \Rightarrow\rm 40 + 7

Adding 7 to 40,

 \Rightarrow\rm 47

RHS

 \Rightarrow\rm 47

Since LHS = RHS,

Hence verified!
