Given :
Height of shorter pole (h1)=4m. [PR]
Height of taller pole (h2) =8 m. [AC]
Shadow of smaller pole (s1) = 6m [QR]
Shadow of taller pole (s2) = ? [BC]

Solution:

As we know that the shadow of both the poles would be made by sun at the same time therefore the angle of depression of the sun would be same for both triangles

So, now by AA similarity ABC~PQR

By the theorem the sides of similar triangles are in same proportion

Therefore
PR/AC= QR/BC
4/8=6/BC
4BC= 6*8
4BC= 48
BC = 48/4
BC= 12

Ans: BC=12m

Hope this will help you :)
