by elimination method

adding eq.(1) and (2) we obtain

x + y = 14

+x - y = +4

y will be cancel after that

2x = 18

x= 9

putting the value of x in eq(2)

x - y = 4

9 - y = 4

-y = 4 -9

-y = -5

y = 5
