solve for a, (a-2)+1/a-2=3 where is not equal to 2


wchow: Please clarify with the brackets... is it (a-2) + 1/(a-2) = 3? Or [(a-2)+1]/(a-2) = 3?

(a-2)+1=3a-6
a-1=3a-6
3a-a=-1+6
2a=5
a=5/2

(a-2)+1/a-2=3
=>a-2+1=3 (a-2)
=>a-1=3a-6
=>6-1=3a-a
=>5=2a
=>a=5/2=2.5----(answer)
