x/2-x/3+x/4=a/6-a/12a/20
taking lcm     (6x-4x+3x)/12=(10a-5a+3a)/60
orr5x/12=8a/60
or x=8a/25

[tex] \frac{1}{2} [ x - \frac{a}{3} ] - \frac{1}{3} [x - \frac{a}{4} ] + \frac{1}{4} [ x - \frac{a}{5} ] = 0 \\ \\ x [ \frac{1}{2} - \frac{1}{3} + \frac{1}{4} ] + a [ - \frac{1}{2} * \frac{1}{3} + \frac{1}{3} * \frac{1}{4} - \frac{1}{4} * \frac{1}{5} ] \\ \\ x [ \frac{6 - 4 + 3}{12} ] + a [ - \frac{1}{6} + \frac{1}{12} - \frac{1}{20} ] = 0 \\ \\ x \frac{5}{12} - a \frac{-10+5-3}{60} = 0 \\ \\ \frac{5}{12} x = \frac{-8}{60} a \\ \\ x = - \frac{8*12}{5*60} a \ = - 8 a /25 [/tex]

answer is - 8 a / 25
