Given the equation
\frac{16}{x}-1=\frac{15}{x+1}\text{, x is not equal to 0 or -1.}x16−1=x+115, x is not equal to 0 or -1.
we have to solve the above equation.
{16}{x}-1=\frac{15}{x+1}x16−1=x+115
\{16-x}{x}=\frac{15}{x+1}x16−x=x+115
Cross multiplying both sides, we get
(16-x)(x+1)=15x(16−x)(x+1)=15x
16x+16-x 2-x=15x16x+16−x2−x=15x
16x-15x-x+16=x 216x−15x−x+16=x2
x^2=16x2=16
Taking square root on both sides, we get
x=\pm 4x=±4
