your question is based on inequality concepts.

question is ---> 5 - (x + 5) > -2(x + 4)

=> 5 - (x + 5) > -2(x + 4)

=> 5 - x - 5 > -2x - 8

=> -x > - 2x - 8

=> -x + 2x > -8

=> x > -8

hence, value of x\in(-8,\infty)

IT IS AN INEQUALITY

5 - (x + 5) > - 2(x + 4) \\ 5 - x - 5 > - 2x - 8 \\ - x > - 2x - 8 \\ on \: adding \: 2x \: both \: sides \\x > - 8
