Solve for x: 5x+2y = 39; 3x-5y = -20

5x + 2y = 39........(i)

3x - 5y = -20    ....(ii)

so, lets multiply (i) by 5 and (ii) by 2

we get (i) 25x + 10y = 195

            (ii) 6x-10y = -40

by adding (i) & (ii) we get

31x = 155

   x = 5
