Solve for x:

a.

/3− 2 = 5

b. 6x − 4 = 4x +12​

6x -  4 = 4x + 12 \\  \\ 6x - 4x = 12 + 4 \\  \\ 2x = 16 \\  \\ x = 8

a) \:  \frac{x}{3}  - 2 = 5 \\  \frac{x}{3}  -  \frac{2}{1}  = 5 \\  \frac{x - 2}{3}  = 5 \\ x - 2 = 5 \times 3 \\ x - 2 = 15 \\ x = 15 + 2 \\ x = 17 \\  \\ b) \: 6x - 4 = 4x + 12 \\  6x - 4x = 12 + 4 \\ 2x = 16 \\ x =  \frac{16}{2}  \\ x = 8
