We have ;

x + y = a + b and ax - by = a² - b²

Multiply first equation by b,

bx + by = ab + b²

Now, add this to equation 2 :-

ax + bx = a² + ab

=> x = a

Substitute x = a in equation 1 :-

x + y = a + b

=> a + y = a + b

=> y = b

So, x = a and y = b is the solution for the given pair of linear equations.
