Answer:

x = b.   y = - a.

Step-by-step explanation:

a x / b - b y /a  = a + b     --- (1)

a x - b y = 2 a b    --- (2)

from (2),   x = (2 a+ y)b/a  .    --- (3)

substitute this (3) in (1) to get

a(2a+y)b/a *1/b - b y /a = a + b

2 a + y - b y /a = a + b

y ( a - b)/a = b - a

=>   y = - a

so substituting this in (3) we get:   x = b.

Answer:

Solution: ax/b - by/a = a+b .........(1)

ax - by = 2ab..............(2)

By dividing the second equation by a

ax/b - by/a = a+b ............. (1)

x - by/a = 2b .............(2)

Subtracting equation (2) from equation (1)

(ax/b - x) = (a - b) x(a/b - 1)

= (a - b) x/b (a - b) = (a - b) x/b = 1 x = b.
