solve for x and y
(1/2x) +(3/5y) = (1/10)
(1/7x) +(1/3y) =(4/21)
(x≠0 , y≠0)
what should be added to x so that it becomes equal to y?

Answer:

2

Step-by-step explanation:

(1/2x) +(3/5y) = (1/10)

(1/7x) +(1/3y) =(4/21)

(x≠0 , y≠0)

Let 1/x = a and 1/y = b

(1/2)a + (3/5)b = 1/10 ..... (1)

(1/7)a + (1/3)b = 4/21 ..... (2)

(1) × 10 and (2) × 21 ⇒

5a + 6b = 1

3a + 7b = 4

Δ = \left[\begin{array}{cc}5&6\\3&7\end{array}\right] = 35-18=17

A_{a} = \left[\begin{array}{cc}1&6\\4&7\end{array}\right] =7-24=-17

A_{b} =\left[\begin{array}{cc}5&1\\3&4\end{array}\right] = 20-3=17

a = - 17 ÷ 17 = - 1

b = 17 ÷ 17 = 1

\frac{1}{x} = -1 ⇒ x = - 1

\frac{1}{y} = 1 ⇒ y = 1

(- 1, 1)

- 1 + 2 = 1

Answer:

x=-1and y=1

multiply eqn 1 and eqn 2 with no 2 and 7 respective.

and then subtract .

then we get x=-1 and y=1 .

we should add 2 in x so that it become equal to y.
