3/x+2/y=0 ------(2)

=> a + b = 1/12 -------(3)
=> a = (1/12)-b -------(4)
3 a + 2b = 0 -------(5)
On Substituting the value of a in (5) then
=> 3[(1/12)-b] +2b = 0
=> (3/12)-3b+2b = 0
=>(1/4) -b = 0
=> b = 1/4 ---------(6)
On Substituting the value of b in (4) then
=> a = (1/12)-(1/4)
LCM of 12 and 4 = 12
=> a = (1-3)/12
=> a = -2/12
=> a = -1/6
We have
a = -1/6
=> 1/x = -1/6
=> x = -6
and
b = 1/4
=> 1/y = 1/4
=>y = 4
Therefore, x = -6 and y = 4
