Answer: x= 1 , y = -2

Step-by-step explanation:

2x - 3y = 8

5x + 3y = -1

BY ELIMINATION METHOD :

by taking coeficient of y and  multiply for the whole equations

[2x-3y = 8] 3

[5x+3y= -1]3

= 6x - 9y = 24

  15x + 9y= -3

-----------------------

     21x  = 21

-----------------------

21x = 21

= x = 21/21

= x = 1

.:. the value of x = 1

Now substitute the value of x in 1st eqn to find the value of y

 2x-3y=8

=2[1] - 3y = 8

= 2-3y = 8

= -3y = 8-2

=  -3y = 6

= y = 6/-3

= y= -2

.:. the value of y is -2..

VERIFICATION :

2x -3y = 8

2[1] - 3[-2] = 8

2 + 6 = 8

8=8

hence , the answer is correct...!!
