Answer:

2x + 6y = 24 ........eq(1)

22x + 3y = 48 ........eq(2)

eq(2) ×2 = 22x×2 + 3y×2 = 48×2 =

             = 44x + 6y = 96.......eq(3)

eq(3)-eq(1)  = 44x-2x + 6y-6y = 96-24

                  =  40x + 0 = 72

                  x = 72/40 = 9/5 = 1.8

substitute x=1.8  on eq(1)

⇒ 2×1.8 + 6y = 24

   3.6 + 6y = 24

6y = 24 - 3.6 = 20.4

y = 20.4/6 = 3.4

x=1.8

y=3.4

hope this helps

multiply 22x+3y=48 by 2 ,we get: 44x+6y=96......eq.1

now subtracting 2x+6y=24 from 44x+6y=96, we get:

44x+6y=96

2x+6y=24

-. -. -

42x+ 0y=72

42x=72

x=72/42

x= 12/7

putting value of x in 2x+6y=24

= 2*12/7+6y=24

= 24/7 +6y =24

= 6y =24 - 24/7

= 6y =. (24*7 - 24)/7

= y = ( 168 - 24 ) 7*6

= y = 144 / 42

=. y = 24 / 7

value of x=12/7 and y=24/7
