Answer: I think your q is incorrect as second eq should have 41y not 51y.

41x + 53y = 135 ------> (I)

53x + 41y = 147 ---------> (II)

adding (I) and (II), we get

94x + 94y = 282

94(x+y) = 282

x+y = 3 ------> (III)

Substracting eq (I) from eq (II),

12x - 12y = 12

12 (x-y) = 12

x-y = 1 ---------> (IV)

solving eq (III) and eq (IV) by elimination method,

x + y = 3

+x - y = 1

-----------

2x = 4

x = 2

from eq (III),

x + y =3

2 + y= 3

y = 1

hence the values of x and y are 2 and 1 respectively.
