4x-7y = 0 ....(1)

8x-y = 26 ....(2)

Multiply equation (1) by 2 , we get

8x -14y = 0 ....(3)

8x-y= 26 ......(1)

Subtract equation (1) from (3) ,we get

-13y = -26

y = 2

Substitute the value of y in equation (1)

4x -7(2) = 0

4x -14=0

4x = 14

x = 14/4

x = 7/2
