By cross-multiplication method, we have

+2b

x

x/y+y/b = 2

=) xb+ya=2ab

x=2ab-ya/b ----- (i)

ax-by=a^2-b^2

=) x=a^2-b^2+by/a ----- (ii)

if i=ii , then

2ab-ya/b = a^2-b^2+by/a

=) 2a^2b-ya^2 = a^2-b^3+b^2y

=) a^2b-ya^2 = b^2y - b^3

=) a^2b+b^3=b^2y+ya^2

=) b(a^2+b^2)=y(b^2+a^2)

=) b=y

then put the value of y

x/a+y/b=2

=) x/a+b/b=2

=) x/a=1

=) x=a
