x - y + 1 = 0 (eqn. no. 1)

x + 2y - 12 = 0 (eqn. no. 2)

eliminate x by subtracting eqn. no. 2 from eqn. no. 1

x - y + 1 = 0 - (x + 2y - 12 = 0)

x - y + 1 - x - 2y + 12 = 0

- 3y + 13 = 0

- 3y = - 13

y = (-13)/(-3)

y = 13/3

putting the value of y in the eqn. no. 1

x - y + 1 = 0

x - 13/3 + 1 = 0

3x - 13 + 3 = 0

3x - 10 = 0

3x = 10

x = 10/3

Hence, the value of y = 13/3 & x = 10/3
