x+2y=2 --eq1

x-3y=7 --eq2

from eq1 x = 2-2y

substituting the value in eq2

 2-2y-3y = 7

2-5y = 7

-5y = 7-2 = 5

y = 5/-5 = -1

and

x + 2(-1) = 2

x -2 = 2

x = 2+2 = 4
