Answer:

x- y= a - b

x=a-b+y

put value in second equation. ax- by = a² + b²

a(a-b+y)- by= a² + b²

a²-ab+ay-by=a²+b²

a(a-b)+y(a-b)=a²+b²

(a+y)(a-b)=a²+b²

a+y=(a²+b²)/(a-b)

y=(a²+b²)/(a-b) -a

y=(a²+b²-a²+ab)/(a-b)

y=(b²+ab)/(a-b)

put in first equation

x=a-b+y

x=a-b+(b²+ab)/(a-b)

x=(a²-ab-ba+b²+b²+ab)/(a-b)

x=(a²+b²-ab)/(a-b)
