Solve for x in the equation ( − 5 ) x + 1 × ( − 5 ) − 5 = ( − 5 ) − 7

 (- 5 ) \times x + 1 \times  - 5 =  - 5 (- 7)

 =  - 5x \times 5 + x + 1 = 35

 =  - 25x + x  = 35 - 1

 - 24x = 34

x =  \frac{34}{ - 24}

x =  \frac{17}{ - 12}
