Solve for x : tan(x-40°)=cot(20°+x)

Answer:

x=55

tan (x-40) = cot (20+x)

tan (90-x+40)= cot (20+x)

cot (90-x+40) = cot (20+x)        (cut the cot)  

90-x+40=20+x

130-x= 20+x

130-20=x+x

2x=110

x= 110/2= 55                        ∴ x= 55

tan(x-40)=tan(70-x)

x-40=70-x

2x=110

x=55
