x-4=2x+1
-4-1=2x-x
-5=X
this could be verified too by substituting X with the value which we just found out i.e. -5
so
-5-4=2*-5+1
-9=-10+1
-9=-9
proved too
you just have to learn the rules of positive and negative integers
hope this helps
