Here, x2 + 4x – 3xy – 12y = 0

⟹ x(x + 4) - 3y(x + 4) = 0

or, (x + 4) (x – 3y) = 0

⟹ x + 4 = 0 or x – 3y = 0

⟹ x = -4 or x = 3y

Therefore, x = -4 or x = 3y
