2x + 2y = 3 – (1)
x + 2y = -1 – (2)
Multiply b/s of (2) by 2 and subtract from (1), we get
2x + 2y - 2x - 4y = 3 + 2
-2y = 5
y = -5/2
Put the value of y in (2), we get
x + 2(-5/2) = -1
x - 5 = -1
x = 4
