EXPLANATION.

Show graphically x and y ,

(a) = 3x + y + 3 = 0.

(b) = x - 2y = 6.

From equation (a) we get,

(a) = 3x + y + 3 = 0.

put the value of x = 0. we get,

⇒ 3(0) + y + 3 = 0.

⇒ y = -3.

Their co-ordinates are = ( 0,-3 )

put the value of y = 0 we get,

⇒ 3x + 0 + 3 = 0.

⇒ x = -1.

Their co-ordinates are = ( -1 , 0 ).

From equation ( b ) we get,

(b) = x - 2y = 6.

put the value of x = 0 in equation.

⇒ 0 - 2y = 6.

⇒ y = -3.

Their co-ordinates are = ( 0,-3).

put the value of y = 0 in equation,

⇒ x - 2(0) = 6.

⇒ x = 6.

Their co-ordinates are = ( 0,6).

Both curve intersect at same point = (0,-3)
