Solve graphically the following pair of linear equations;

3x +y=9, 3x +4y =18
also find the area of the triangle formed by the vertices

Answer:

3x+y= 9 - ( 3x + 4y = 18 ) = 3x - 3x + y - 4y = 9-18 = -3y = -9 = y = 3

3x+ y = 9 = 3x + 3= 9= 3x= 9- 3 = x= 2

in the graph we obtained in x-axis 2 and in y-axis 3 therefore according to area of triangle base is x-axis and height is y-axis.

area of triangle = 1/2 ×base × height

= 1/2 × 2 ×3 = 3

area of triangle =3 square unit
