From EQ(1)

X+y=14

Put x=0

0+y=14

Y=14

Put y=1

X+1=14

X=14-1

X=13

From EQ (2)

X-y=4

Put x=0

0-y=4

Y=-4

Put y=1

X-1=4

X=4+1

X=5

From EQ (1) we get values of x and y as 13and 14 respectively and from eq (2) we get valued of x and y as 5 and (-4) respectively.
